ive took the battery out and it still did the same thing. My Acer laptop gets to the login screen wicked quick, but then hangs in the black screen for 501 seconds before explorer.exe loads... Your screen display is just turned off.I read this answer on another thread and it worked for me todayso I will paraphrase. Not sure if that will work though.
Most of the time, the screen goes completely black, except for the mouse cursor.
